Jasper is located at 34°28′9″N 84°26′3″W (34.469127, -84.434039). Jasper is 50 miles north of Atlanta and 50 miles south of the Georgia/Tennessee/North Carolina tripoint. Routes 53 and 108 passes through Jasper, while Route 5 bypasses the city.
As of the census of 2000, there were 2,167 people, 942 households, and 575 families residing in the city. The population density was 657.0 people per square mile (253.5/km²). There were 1,030 housing units at an average density of 312.3 per square mile (120.5/km²).
